The New England Patriots have agreed to terms with veteran safety Kevin Byard on a one-year, $9 million contract, as NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero reported on Wednesday.

Byard, 32, led the NFL with seven interceptions with the Chicago Bears in 2025. A three-time Pro Bowler and first-team All-Pro, he has appeared in 164 games and made 155 starts since entering the NFL in the third round of the 2016 NFL draft. The former No. 64 overall pick out of Middle Tennessee STate began his run with the Tennessee Titans before departing via trade for the Philadelphia Eagles midway through his eighth campaign.

The new league year officially begins at 4 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
