Texas basketball lands Auburn's Elyjah Freeman from transfer portal

Head coach Sean Miller has made his fourth transfer portal signing of the window. Former Auburn small forward Elyjah Freeman has committed to Texas basketball out of the NCAA transfer portal. Freeman averaged 9.2 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists for the Tigers this year.
Freeman is ranked as the No. 6 small forward in this year’s cycle, according to On3. Freeman has two season of eligibilty left. Before joining the Tigers for one season, Freeman played his freshman year at Lincoln Memorial.

In his lone season at Auburn, Freeman averaged 9.2 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists for a Tiger team that missed the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2021. Prior to landing at Auburn, Freeman starred during his freshman season at Lincoln Memorial.

At Lincoln Memorial, the 6-foot-8 forward was named South Atlantic Freshman of the Year, first team All-SAC and was named to the SAC All-Freshman Team. He averaged 18.9 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 3.2 assists for the Railsplitters.
Freeman went to another level for Auburn in the postseason. Over the Tigers' five NIT games, Freeman 10 points and 7.6 rebounds per game, grabbing 14 rebounds against Tulsa in the NIT title game. He finished in double figures in five of the Tigers’ last 10 games.
